9:00-11:00A: SESSION 1: An Introduction to NIH: Drinking from the Firehose
Getting funded by NIH requires at least a working knowledge of, and strategic approach to, the large array of opportunities. Are you ready for an R01, or are your chances better with an R03? Do you have enough/too much preliminary data for your target grant mechanism? How do you identify the right review committee for your grant? Which Institute is best for your work? When and who should you contact for help? This presentation will walk you through the NIH process, with some helpful hints on writing grant applications.
This session is meant for those largely inexperienced with NIH.
1:00-3:00P: SESSION 2: Above the Fray: Winning NIH Grants
Understanding the basics of NIH funding is a foundation. Obtaining and sustaining reliable support requires focused attention to crafting award-winning applications—a skill that can be learned. This presentation will dig deeply into honing and targeting your grant application(s) so that your science finds its proper home within the NIH, shows to its best advantage and is favorably reviewed.
This session will dive into enhancing your grant writing, and assumes a basic familiarity with the NIH.
